Phil Kessel just signed an 8 year extension with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He wanted to spend the rest of his career alongside Crosby. He's insulted by the GM that he would pull something like this for a player of his status.
He looks at the negative rep that the Avalanche GM has and has decided to not waive his no trade clause.
Lots of players taking notice to this unfair treatment of an elite player.
