Gionta signed a discount to be with the team he always wanted to play for and grew up watching. He had better offers that guarenteed more playing time, but in the end the location was the main thing. He refuses to waive his NTC, as he hopes to finish his career in NY. He also isn't ahppy with the fact he didn't even get to spend a month in NY without them trying to trade him, other players in the league have noticed.
