In Quest, along with almost every other sim league, there is only 3 draft picks,
1) 1st Round Pick 2) 2nd Round Pick 3) 3rd Round Pick
Your 1st Round Pick is what is used to actually draft a player. The 2nd Round pick is a booster that adds +2 to the overall of your drafted player and the 3rd Rounder boosts your drafted player by +1.
Example: With the 13th Pick in the 2016 QFTC Draft, the Chicago Blackhawks select RW Auston Matthews 73 overall. To upgrade:
13. Auston Matthews 73 + (CHI) 2nd + (CHI) 3rd = 76 overall
The Draft Lottery
In short, all 14 non-playoff teams would be eligible for the 1st overall pick. We will use draftlotto.com and the percentage for each team as follows.
30th: 25% 29th: 18.8% 28th: 14.2% 27th: 10.7% 26th: 8.1% 25th: 6.2% 24th: 4.7% 23rd: 3.6% 22nd: 2.7% 21st: 2.1% 20th: 1.5% 19th: 1.1% 18th: 0.8% 17th: 0.5%
Max Upgrade Limit
1st overall pick: 83 Picks 2: 82 Picks 3-5: 81 Picks 6-9: 80 Picks 10-15: 79 Picks 16-20: 78 Picks 21-25: 76 Pick 26-30: 75
This is implemented to make sure that no GM gets 15 2nd Round Picks and makes his drafted player 99 overall at $875,000 for 3 years.
