Well this is it. After 21 seasons, QuestFortheCupNHLSim is shutting down. We've had our highs and our lows, but overall this was a community for almost 4 years. Many of you I know from other leagues and it was great having you all here. NHL17 started this league back in 2011, back when we were using NHL12. Over the years we've seen members come and go and now it finally ends. The last great NHL sim league is ending. Before we shut it down, I want to acknowledge the members of this league over the years:

Los Angeles Kings GM Buddy you were the person who got me into sim leagues all the way back in the summer of 2009 when you posted the link to superiornhlsim on canucks.com. You've come and gone, but you were instrumental to the success of sim leagues back in it's prime. Thanks for getting me into this community.

rk17 RK man, what can I say. Probably one of the best admins and GM's out there. I'll never forget your constant fleecing of other GM's and that one time you simmed 5 season in a summer. You were incredibly influential throughout sim leagues, adding rules like the MLU and experimenting with new ways to improve the sim league experience. You've been a friend on these sites and my co-admin in many different leagues. It was nice getting to know you over the years bud.

goblue209 I don't care what anyone else says, you are the GOAT simmer. The one constant this league has had over the years is you're incredible simming. I don't know how much I or the rest of the members can say this, but we appreciate all you have done for this league. The time and energy you put in every day. The consistency of your simming is what sets you apart from anyone else. I'm going to miss logging in every morning and checking the sims, I always knew they'd be there. Thats not something that can be said about every league. Enjoy your retirement bud, you earned it.

snaggletooth If goblue209 is the GOAT simmer, you are the GOAT Admin. I'll never forget stickinrinkv2, where you simmed, admined, and (allegedly) was the PR all at the same time. You know how to get a league going and how to keep it active. I always looked up to you in these communities and I think everyone respected you. You simmed my first cup and my last cup, and I'm glad you were able to beat me for your first Cup.

sensrule19 I've been in so many leagues with you bro. You provided great input when I was running this league and you always built great teams wherever you went. You kept the league in check and were one of the GM's I always listened to.

Nashville Predators GM When you first joined, you were pretty annoying to be honest LOL. But you have grown and have been a big part of the sim league community, helping out and volunteering, making the admin's lives easier. Good luck in the future bud, I think you can make it into NHL management some day.

yup Oldgreg, one of the guys I remember when I first joined sim leagues. You've been in pretty much every league I've been in since then. Definitely going to miss your quips in the chatbox.

Vancouver Canucks GM We always argue (who doesn't with you LOL JK) but I always respected your commitment and knowledge of sim leagues. There have been times where I have been frustrated with you (and you probably have with me) but at the end of the day, I respected your opinion. You've probably been in sim leagues the longest out of all of us and I always admired your experience bud.

New York Rangers GM You simmed probably the greatest league ever. Although I was never in EAsims, I knew the league was well respected. I wanted Quest to eventually catch up to EA, but it wasn't meant to me. Also thanks for simming IronMan, that was a great couple of seasons when you took over simming.

Toronto Maple Leafs GM I don't know how many Cups you won, but I knew you had more than me haha. In my opinion, your the greatest GM of all time. Your teams are consistently great, something I wasn't able to achieve.


Shout outs to Houdini , Calgary Flames GM , steinkej4 , belfour , coiser , leaffan92 , halifaxhab , New Jersey Devils GM , St. Louis Blues GM , Washington Capitals GM and Winnipeg Jets GM . You guys were great members in this league and I appreciate your commitment to this league.

Quest wasn't the greatest league out there, and it did have its flaws, but I'm going to miss all of you. Sim leagues have been a part of my life for almost 6 years now. If anyone ever starts another league, I have may join or just drop by and hang out. Good luck to all of you in whatever your future holds.

You're forgetting somebody, yourself. When I first joined these leagues two years ago you were one of the people that taught me everything I know today. You were a leader and somebody that I look up to. As the youngest person here I can say that you were like an older brother to me. You helped me understand these leagues and you helped me grow as a human being.

When I first joined these leagues (season 3 at TopCheddar) I was probably one of the most immature people you could find. Hell just from my PMs alone
I think I annoyed at least 75% of you lol. But as time went on I matured with the leagues. I worked my way to becoming a Moderator at butterfigers league (only to have it taken away after like two days lol) then to a Global Moderator, and after two years I finally reached one of my biggest goals in these sim leagues which was to become an Admin. This has been a huge part of my life and I'll miss it.

Guys these leagues have helped me mature into the person I am today. Hell, these leagues helped me find the passion I've been looking for all my life. It helped me find the job that I want to be in my future. I can say that this has been practice for me for when I try to achieve my goal of becoming a GM one day. I owe a lot to these leagues and I'll miss logging on everyday when I wake up, come home from school/work, and before I go to bed. I've put so much into these leagues as have many of you, and all I gotta say is, this has been a hell of a ride with all of you. Good luck to every single one of you and if somebody here creates a new league be sure to invite me. I'll be a member there 100%. I can honestly say that I am truly blessed to have been apart of these leagues for te past 2 years. Not only was this something that kept me happy and was something that was fun to do but it was also something I used to learn more about hockey as a whole. I love all of you guys. You're my second family and even though I got into fights with probably every single one of you I'll miss you all. Have a good life guys and remember all the good memories

Thanks for the kind words, but I think it was more so that I had a lot of extra time on my hands to things done haha. It's a shame this is coming to an end like this, but I know it was all in the back of our minds. Although I didn't get to you all as much as I knew the crew at EA, I really enjoyed my time here at Quest the past couple of years, including all the other leagues with the same core group of guys. I think you guys did a tremendous with the past few leagues. I think cap leagues are always at a disadvantage with retirements, new rookies etc., in comparison to non-cap leagues, which might be why EA managed to stay open for so long. This community has been great to me since I was a kid. I hope we can get a new EA league together, but I will be looking around the EHM leagues giving one or two a shot. Hope to see you guys around.

Shit man I didn't know an online time waster could get so emotional! I remember starting this league and thought "I'll quit sims once quest is done," little did I know it would take 4 years!!!! That's because of such dedicated GMs, mods, a ridiculous simmer, and constant effort by the admins to add new elements to make these leagues exciting and appealing. Mike buddy, you are an unbelievable guy, through your post and through the hard work I've seen you do on here, I have no doubt that you'll be successful in life, not only with your career, but with your relationships and everything. You're one of the best guys I've ever met and I've never seen you face to face.

All the guys on here made this league so much fun to be apart of. From Kruze to Oldgreg to joubran, we've all had our fair share of arguments but it's the reason I kept coming back. It's been insane that I've been on these things for 7 years and it's cool when the core remains the same. Thanks for everything boys. If you're ever in Kelowna, give me a shout.

Love you boys. I've been sim leaguing for 7 years myself and if there was one that had to be my last its only appropriate that it would be Quest. While I never won a cup here, its definitely my longest lasting sim league, and I'm proud to have been one of the major cogs of such a well running machine. Luongod, RK17, and nhl7, it was seriously a pleasure adminitsrating with you guys to keep this running for so long, and whenever I miss sim leagues it'll be this one I'll be thinking longingly of. Shoutout to goblue209 as well for being the best damn simmer out there.

My first sim league I joined in 2008, called TheHockeyNation. The admin was a guy called Silence, and he was an excellent mentor in the sim league world. I joined with a few of my friends from elementary school and it is a main reason why I became such a rabid hockey fan. All my friends quit sim leaguing long ago, but I stayed on, partially out of my love for fantasy hockey, but a large part because of my fellow sim leaguers. I feel like we kept the same group of guys in the same leagues for years, and if you guys were boring selfish douchebags I probably would have quit years ago, but the community here grew together and kept me going. Every league had its drama, some of which I was a part of, but even the ones who we'd always argue with (looking at you Kruze) were such big personalities that it kept me coming back for more.

Again, love you guys (no homo), and I wish everyone the best of luck with their future lives. Who knows, maybe one of us will be working for a hockey team some day.

Makes me want to open a league so fucking bad... there's just no way I can sim with the consistency goblue209 always did though...truly impressive!

True, but it's hard to get motivated to sim when you only have half a league. I've had a good history of filling my leagues, but these days I think it would be tough. I'm sure activity is the biggest reason for Buffalo's retirement.

Reading all of this makes me sad. I'm going to miss this community that we've developed over the years and I'm going to miss the members of this league. Thank you everyone for making not just Quest, but all sim leagues such a great place to be. It's going to be hard moving on from all of this since its been such a big part of my life for the past 6 years, I can't imagine not logging on everyday.

Thank you everybody! I'm so happy with how amazing this league was and all the amazing people in it!

I remember when my good friend phoned me up and we started this great league together, all those years ago. It was quite a run and I really appreciate everybodies hard work with keeping the league up and running from me and the original Toronto Maple Leafs' (can't remember his username, possibly Kesler17) absence.

I wasn't always the most active or reliable guy around but I was so lucky to have all these amazing people to pick up the slack. We created a legacy boys, congrats!
