I think both teams will benefit from it. Accept

So much ick in this for me, in all honesty. Boston is gonna have a heck of a bad time trying to re-sign all these guys.

I see your point Preds, but you have to realize that we're talking about MacKinnon here. I've had huge offers on Mac that I said no to... much more value coming my way than this. He has enough value to go for Bergeron and Trouba alone. Then Larose is a guy who sits in UFA or the minors in most leagues, while Spooner is a injury fill-in lifer and Ladd/O'reilly balance themselves out as far as UFA risk goes. At the end of the day, I think both teams will come out of this quite happily. The big shocker for me, is just 2 mods on this in 13 hours. Dafuq's up with mods these days? Having the same problem at Beastmode. Lazy bastards!

Regardless, in the end, I believe that MacKinnon is gonna get a huge pay day, and given the fact that Boston has always been a close-to-the-cap team, this means that most likely both Pitkanen and O'Reilly are heading to free agency.
Once this season ends, the trade will end up looking like this.
C Patrice Bergeron TWF 91 6.5M UFA 2022 (30) - One of the cheaper contracts for a really great player
LW Andrew Ladd PWF 87 $4.4M UFA 2016 (30) - Maybe in UFA, but we'll have to see. I'll cross him out for now D Jacob Trouba TWD 85 1.827 RFA 2016 (21) - You're going to re-sign him, guaranteed RW Chad Larose GRN 80 1,000,000 UFA 2017 (33) - Under contract C Ryan Spooner PLY 79 0.87M UFA 2017 (23) - Under contract
in exchange for
C Nathan MacKinnon PLY 90 $3,775,000 RFA 2016 (20) - Most likely going to re-sign somewhere around the 7-8 million range
LW Ryan O'Reilly TWF 87 $6,000,000 UFA 2016 (24) - Most likely in UFA
D Joni Pitkanen OFD 84 $4,000,000 UFA 2016 (31) - Most likely in UFA
C Maxime Talbot GRN 82 $1,750,000 UFA 2016 (31) - I don't see a re-sign happening C Joey Hishon PLY 76 $1,000,000 UFA 2017 (23) - Under contract.
I will still stick to my guns and say that Colorado is taking advantage of these expiring contracts and just dumping them on Boston. Ultimately, it's up to the other mods, but I can't accept this knowing the circumstances of MacKinnon and how much he can get.

Ultimately, it's up to the other mods, but I can't accept this knowing the circumstances of MacKinnon and how much he can get. That's one of the weirdest breakdowns I've seen. LOL Unless you're the PR, 90% of what you said is speculation. There's no way PR is gonna screw Boston that bad, so worst case is that he'll lose one guy, possibley two, but certainly not three. Also, Boston wouldn't have been interested in acquiring these guys unless he plans to find a way for their future contracts to work on the team. As far his him gaining cap after re-signs, picture this... Talbot and O'Reilly's deals will be almost the same. Pitkanen will take a pay cut so the only gain is 3-4M on Mac. Now look at the two dudes I need to re-sign. Ladd will want at least a 1M increase, and Trouba will probably want a 3M raise. So the re-signs these guy require will almost exactly equal the increase Mac will want, cancelling out your theory of increased future cap problems for Boston. All that being said, I respect your opinion and believe it's a good thing to have mods with different views, but I don't think it's a trade that warrants a rejection.

Smash brings up a good point but if Boston wants to take on that added risk by adding a franchise player in mackinnon im all for it. Accept
